About the Caucus

- A meeting of the local members of a political party especially to select candidates running for office.
What is a Caucus?
The 3,026 Democrats of East Lyme ultimately choose who their candidate for First Selectman is. The caucus is an opportunity for all Democrats to be heard and to vote on their choice to be the candidate.
On Monday, July 25th, at 6:30pm in the East Lyme High School Atrium, you have an opportunity to vote for who you feel our candidate should be. Cini is counting on your support that night to ensure he is the candidate that represents you!
How the Caucus will work
All people attending will be checked at the door to ensure they are registered Democrats in the town of East Lyme.
The meeting will open and the chairman will call for nominations for First Selectman - Cini and his opponent will be nominated, there will probably be some debate, and then a vote will be taken. The vote will first be taken by voice, if that is inconclusive, the vote will probably be done by paper ballot. You will be asked to fill out a Blank Ballot for First Selectman.
The vote will be counted and results will be read.
